Afterthoughts on our AI Anxiety webinar

Generative AI can strengthen a workflow in one part of an organization and quickly expose risk in another. For L&D leaders, the challenge is no longer whether AI will affect the portfolio. It is how to evaluate current offerings clearly enough to decide what to preserve, what to adapt, and what to redesign.


That was the focus of our recent CCCE session with Andrew Barrett. Using ScaleLearning’s CATS AI Strategic Framework, Andrew invited participants to examine programs through a more strategic lens: where to Capitalize, Assess, Transform, or Shift as AI changes the landscape of learning and work.


A strong takeaway from the session was that L&D does not need to respond to AI with panic. It can respond with structure. When teams step back, assess both automation potential and future viability, and ask better questions about their offerings, they are better positioned to support upskilling and reskilling while strengthening their relevance to the business.


The discussion also reinforced an important shift for our profession. In an AI-shaped environment, L&D’s role is not simply to produce learning faster. It is to act as a strategic partner: reading the landscape, identifying risk and opportunity, and helping organizations make smarter decisions about where to invest time, energy, and capability-building effort.
